Massanteile, or mass fractions, denote the portion of the total mass that a component contributes to a mixture. The mass fraction of a component i is dimensionless and is often written as w_i, or expressed as a percentage (mass percent) when convenient.

Calculation and meaning: w_i = m_i / m_total, where m_i is the mass of component i and m_total is the total mass of the mixture. If given as a percent, the mass percent is w_i × 100%.
