Magnetizacija is a fundamental property of matter that describes the response of a material to an external magnetic field. When a material is placed in a magnetic field, its constituent atoms or molecules can acquire a magnetic dipole moment. This phenomenon arises from the motion of electrons within the atoms, which generate tiny magnetic fields. In some materials, these tiny magnetic fields can align with the external field, leading to a net magnetization of the material.

The magnetization of a material is typically represented by a vector quantity, M, which indicates the strength and direction of the magnetic dipole moment per unit volume. Different materials exhibit varying degrees of magnetization. Diamagnetic materials are weakly repelled by magnetic fields. Paramagnetic materials are weakly attracted to magnetic fields and become magnetized in the same direction as the applied field. Ferromagnetic materials, such as iron and nickel, can be strongly magnetized and retain their magnetization even after the external field is removed, forming permanent magnets.

The magnetization of a material is crucial in many technological applications, including electric motors, generators, transformers, data storage devices, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
