This merger aimed to create a more unified and efficient approach to managing Finland's transportation infrastructure. The new agency, Väylävirasto, continues to be responsible for the planning, development, and maintenance of the country's road, rail, and waterway networks, as well as for ensuring the smooth flow of traffic.
