Lämmönluovutin is a Finnish term that translates to "heat exchanger" in English. A heat exchanger is a device designed to efficiently transfer thermal energy (heat) between two or more fluids (liquids or gases) that are at different temperatures. These fluids are usually separated by a solid wall to prevent them from mixing.

The fundamental principle behind a heat exchanger is that heat naturally flows from a hotter substance to a colder one. The heat exchanger facilitates this transfer by maximizing the contact area between the fluids and minimizing the resistance to heat flow.
