Lymfoidních refers to structures or cells associated with the lymphatic system. The lymphatic system is a network of vessels, tissues, and organs that work together to move colorless, watery fluid called lymph back into the circulatory system. This fluid is crucial for the immune system, transporting white blood cells and fighting infections. Lymfoidních structures are where lymphocytes, a type of white blood cell, mature, proliferate, and initiate immune responses.

Primary lymphoid organs include the bone marrow and the thymus. In the bone marrow, lymphocytes are produced. In the thymus, T lymphocytes mature. Secondary lymphoid organs are sites where mature lymphocytes encounter antigens and mount an immune response. These include lymph nodes, the spleen, and mucosal-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT), which is found in the lining of the digestive, respiratory, and genitourinary tracts. Lymph nodes filter lymph, trapping foreign substances and housing immune cells. The spleen filters blood, removing old red blood cells and housing lymphocytes and macrophages. MALT plays a vital role in defending mucosal surfaces from pathogens. The term lymfoidních is therefore directly linked to the cellular components and architectural organization of these immune system sites.
