lomauttunut
Lomauttunut is a Finnish term referring to an employee who has been temporarily laid off from their job. This is typically done by an employer when there is a temporary shortage of work or a financial downturn, and the employer wishes to avoid permanent dismissals. During a lomautus period, the employee is not required to work and the employer is not obligated to pay wages. However, the employment relationship continues to exist.
Employees on temporary layoff are often eligible for unemployment benefits from Kela, the Social Insurance Institution
A lomautus can be initiated for a fixed period or indefinitely, although indefinite layoffs are less common
