Lengadocien, also written as Languedocien, is a major dialect of the Occitan language (langue d’oc) spoken in the southern French region historically known as Languedoc. It belongs to the Occitan dialect continuum and is closely related to other Occitan varieties such as Provençal and Gascon. Languedocien varieties are traditionally spoken across parts of today’s Occitanie region, notably in departments such as Hérault, Aude, Gard, and Tarn, with varieties extending into neighboring areas.
