Küllastustasemed refer to the degree to which a solvent or medium can dissolve a solute. When a solution reaches its saturation point, it cannot dissolve any more solute under the given conditions of temperature and pressure. At this point, the rate of dissolution of the solute into the solvent is equal to the rate at which the solute crystallizes out of the solution. There are typically three classifications for saturation levels: unsaturated, saturated, and supersaturated.

An unsaturated solution contains less solute than the maximum amount that can be dissolved at a given temperature and pressure. If more solute is added to an unsaturated solution, it will dissolve. A saturated solution contains the maximum amount of solute that can be dissolved at a specific temperature and pressure. Any additional solute added to a saturated solution will not dissolve and will typically settle at the bottom or remain undissolved.

A supersaturated solution is one that contains more dissolved solute than a saturated solution under the same conditions. These solutions are unstable and are typically formed by dissolving a solute at a higher temperature and then cooling the solution without disturbing it. If a supersaturated solution is disturbed, such as by adding a seed crystal of the solute, the excess solute will rapidly crystallize out of the solution until it reaches a saturated state.
