közelpont
The term "közelpont" is a Hungarian word that translates to "near point" in English. It refers to the closest distance at which an object can be seen clearly by the eye. This distance varies from person to person and changes with age. For a young, healthy eye, the near point is typically around 10-15 centimeters. As a person ages, particularly after the age of 40, the elasticity of the lens within the eye decreases, causing the near point to recede. This condition, known as presbyopia, makes it increasingly difficult to focus on near objects. The measurement of the near point is often used in optometry and ophthalmology to assess visual function and diagnose conditions related to the focusing ability of the eye. Factors such as accommodation, which is the eye's ability to change its focal length, play a crucial role in determining the near point. When an object is closer than the near point, the light rays entering the eye diverge too much for the lens to focus them properly on the retina, resulting in a blurred image.
