käynnistinmoottorista
Käynnistinmoottori, commonly known as a starter motor, is an electric motor used to turn an internal combustion engine to start it. It is typically a DC electric motor with a series-wound or permanent magnet design. When the ignition key is turned or a start button is pressed, an electrical current is supplied to the starter motor. This current is usually routed through a solenoid switch. The solenoid engages a small pinion gear on the starter motor shaft with a larger ring gear on the engine's flywheel or flexplate. Once engaged, the starter motor spins, turning the engine's crankshaft. This rotation allows the engine to draw in fuel and air, compress the mixture, and ignite it, leading to self-sustained operation. After the engine starts, the pinion gear disengages from the ring gear, and the starter motor stops spinning. Starter motors are essential components in most vehicles and are designed to provide high torque for a short duration.
