Käibemaksuaruanne is an Estonian term that translates to "Value Added Tax (VAT) return" in English. It is a document that businesses registered for VAT in Estonia must submit to the Estonian Tax and Customs Board (Maksu- ja Tolliamet). This report details the amount of VAT collected on sales (output VAT) and the amount of VAT paid on purchases (input VAT) during a specific tax period, typically a calendar month.

The purpose of the käibemaksuaruanne is to allow the Tax and Customs Board to verify that businesses are correctly calculating and remitting their VAT obligations. If the output VAT exceeds the input VAT, the business owes the difference to the state. Conversely, if the input VAT is greater than the output VAT, the business may be eligible for a VAT refund.

The käibemaksuaruanne must be filed electronically through the Estonian Tax and Customs Board's e-service. The deadline for submission is generally the 20th day of the month following the end of the tax period. Failure to submit the report on time or submitting inaccurate information can result in penalties and interest.
