Kytkentätekijä refers to a concept in electrical engineering and electronics that describes the relationship between the magnetic flux produced by a coil and the current flowing through it. It is a measure of how effectively a coil can store magnetic energy. The term is often translated as "inductance" in English.

The kytkentätekijä of a coil is determined by its physical characteristics, such as the number of turns of wire, the geometry of the coil (length and cross-sectional area), and the material of the core (if any). A higher kytkentätekijä means that a given current will produce a larger magnetic flux, and conversely, a changing magnetic flux will induce a larger voltage across the coil.

This property is fundamental to the operation of inductors, transformers, and many other electrical components. Inductors, for example, are designed to have a specific kytkentätekijä for use in circuits such as filters, oscillators, and energy storage elements. The unit of kytkentätekijä is the henry (H), named after the American physicist Joseph Henry. A kytkentätekijä of one henry means that a current changing at a rate of one ampere per second will induce a voltage of one volt across the coil.
