kvadratstorlek

Kvadratstorlek refers to the size of a square, typically defined by the length of its side. The term is used in Swedish to denote the dimension of a square. The side length is the primary parameter; other properties such as area and perimeter follow from it.

If the side length is s, its area A is s^2, and its perimeter P is 4s. The length of the diagonal is d = s√2.

If the square is positioned in a plane with coordinates, for an axis-aligned square with bottom-left corner at (x0, y0) and side length s, the vertices are (x0, y0), (x0+s, y0), (x0, y0+s), (x0+s, y0+s).

In terms of units, the side length is measured in units such as meters, centimeters, or pixels; the area is expressed in square units (m^2, cm^2, px^2). For example, s = 5 cm gives A = 25 cm^2.

Kvadratstorlek is used in geometry, architecture, mapping, computer graphics, and digital imagery to specify the size of a square or a grid cell. In GIS or raster data, the term may describe the cell size of a grid.
