Kunrikosasian is a lesser-known regional dialect and cultural tradition primarily associated with the Kunri people, an ethnic group historically residing in the mountainous regions of the northern Caucasus. The term itself is a blend of "Kunri" (referring to the indigenous people) and "kosian," which loosely translates to "traditional" or "ancient" in some local languages, though its exact etymology remains debated among linguists.

The Kunrikosasian dialect is characterized by its unique phonetic features, including a distinct vowel harmony system and a limited consonant inventory compared to neighboring languages. It belongs to the broader North Caucasian language family, particularly the Nakh-Daghestanian branch, and shares some lexical similarities with Chechen and Ingush but retains significant linguistic autonomy. Oral traditions suggest that Kunrikosasian may have evolved from an older proto-language, though written records are scarce, and much of its grammar and vocabulary has been preserved through folk songs and proverbs.

Culturally, Kunrikosasian encompasses a blend of animistic and animist-influenced practices, including rituals centered around nature spirits and seasonal cycles. The Kunri people traditionally practiced a form of agriculture adapted to their high-altitude environment, growing barley, rye, and potatoes while supplementing their diet with game and dairy products.
