kuluttajavirastoon

"Kuluttajavirastoon" is the Finnish illative form of "Kuluttajavirasto" and literally means "to the Consumer Agency." The term is used when referring to actions directed at or communications sent to Finland's consumer protection authority.

Kuluttajavirasto was the national consumer protection agency responsible for promoting and enforcing consumer rights, providing information and guidance to consumers and businesses, and monitoring market practices. Its activities typically included advising consumers on rights and obligations, handling consumer complaints and disputes, coordinating product safety measures such as recalls, conducting surveys and research on consumer issues, and informing legislative and policy development related to consumer protection.

In 2013 the functions of the former Consumer Agency were combined with competition oversight into the Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority (Kilpailu- ja kuluttajavirasto, KKV). Many services formerly associated with Kuluttajavirasto continue under KKV, including consumer advice, complaint handling and market surveillance. Consumers seeking help or wishing to file complaints are usually directed to national consumer advice services or to the relevant authority’s online channels, which also cooperate with European consumer networks for cross-border disputes.

The word "kuluttajavirastoon" therefore can appear in official correspondence, guidance documents and informal speech when referring to sending information, complaints or inquiries to the consumer authority.
