kullemmin

Kullemmin is a small island located in the Baltic Sea, off the coast of Finland. The island is situated approximately 20 kilometers southeast of the city of Kotka, in the province of Kymenlaakso. Kullemmin is the smallest of a group of islands known as the Ulko-Tuolonen Islands.

Kullemmin has a total area of approximately 6 hectares and a maximum elevation of about 10 meters above sea level. The island is primarily composed of limestone and clay. Its low-lying terrain and limited vegetation have led to the island being subject to frequent overlandings during periods of low tide.

Environmental studies have found the island to be an important habitat for several species of birds and insects. Pouled birds such as seagulls and crows frequently inhabit the island to feed on small mammals and eggs. The island's surrounding waters also attract migratory species.

Human activities on the island have been limited, largely due to the remote location and difficulty in accessing the island without specialized means. However, the island's proximity to human population centers means that it is not entirely isolated. An official hydrographic survey conducted in the early 2000s recorded navigation beacons and supplied other data necessary for safe passage for nearby boat traffic. Little to no archaeological research has been conducted on the island to document any historical or geological events it may have experienced in the past.
