krediterad

Krediterad is a Swedish term used in finance, accounting and administration. It is the past participle of the verb kreditera and indicates that an amount has been credited to an account. In bookkeeping, a credit entry can increase liabilities or equity or, for assets and expenses, result in a decrease. Practically, the term is used to describe invoices or balances that have been adjusted downward or credits issued to a customer.

Invoicing and credit notes: When a customer is entitled to a refund or a price adjustment, a kreditnota or a krediterad faktura is issued, and the corresponding entry is listed as krediterad in the accounts. This means the revenue or receivable is reduced and the customer's account is credited.

Banking and refunds: In banking or payment processing, a payment can be krediterad to a customer account, increasing the balance. Conversely, a charged item can be debiterad (the opposite term).
