Kovalenttisti, also known as covalent bonding, is a type of chemical bonding that occurs when two atoms share one or more pairs of electrons. This type of bonding is typically found between nonmetals and is characterized by the equal sharing of electrons between the atoms involved. The shared electrons are located in the outermost electron shells of the atoms, known as valence shells.

In a covalent bond, the atoms involved achieve a more stable electron configuration by sharing electrons. Covalent compounds can exist as discrete molecules, as in the case of molecular compounds like water (H2O) and methane (CH4), or as extended networks, as seen in covalent networks like diamond and graphite. In covalent networks, the sharing of electrons extends throughout the entire structure, resulting in a continuous array of atoms held together by covalent bonds.
