Koushun, also known as " Kou Shun" or "Ko Shun," is a Japanese term that translates to "favorable wind" or "fair wind." It is primarily used in maritime contexts to describe wind conditions that are advantageous for sailing. A koushun would typically be a wind that blows in the direction a vessel wishes to travel, or one that is strong enough to propel the ship efficiently without causing undue difficulty.

The concept of koushun is rooted in the traditional reliance on wind power for navigation. Mariners have always sought favorable winds to ensure safe and timely voyages. The presence of koushun could significantly shorten travel times, reduce the effort required from the crew, and minimize the risks associated with adverse weather.
