koronaarterierne
Koronaarterierne, also known as coronary arteries, are the blood vessels responsible for supplying oxygen-rich blood to the heart muscle itself. These arteries branch off from the aorta, the main artery leaving the left ventricle of the heart, shortly after it emerges. There are typically two main coronary arteries, the left main coronary artery and the right coronary artery. The left main coronary artery then quickly divides into the left anterior descending artery and the left circumflex artery, further distributing blood to different regions of the heart. The right coronary artery generally supplies the right side of the heart. Blockages or narrowing within these arteries, often due to atherosclerosis (the buildup of plaque), can restrict blood flow and lead to serious health problems such as angina (chest pain) and myocardial infarction (heart attack). The health of the koronaarterierne is crucial for maintaining the proper functioning of the heart.
