A kommandiittiyhtiömies, in Finnish law, refers to a partner in a limited partnership (kommandiittiyhtiö). This type of partnership has two classes of partners: general partners (vastuunalainen yhtiömies) and limited partners (kommandiittiyhtiömies).

The key distinction lies in their liability. General partners are fully and jointly liable for all the debts and obligations of the partnership. This means their personal assets can be used to satisfy the partnership's debts if the partnership's assets are insufficient.

In contrast, a kommandiittiyhtiömies, or limited partner, has liability limited to the amount of capital they have agreed to contribute to the partnership. They are generally not personally liable for the partnership's debts beyond their investment. However, this limited liability is contingent on them not being involved in the management or day-to-day operations of the partnership. If a limited partner participates in management, they may lose their limited liability status and become liable as a general partner.
