Kolaudacja is a formal acceptance procedure for buildings and facilities in Poland, conducted after completion to determine whether the structure complies with the project documentation and applicable building, safety, and technical requirements. It is carried out by a competent local building control authority, typically a powiat- or city-level inspectorate or department.

The procedure generally begins after completion works and the submission of required documents, including as-built design plans, technical certificates, and test results for installations such as electrical, gas, and water systems, as well as energy efficiency data and fire protection measures. The authority may conduct on-site inspections to verify structural integrity, fire safety, sanitary conditions, accessibility, and compliance with relevant standards.

If the assessment is positive, the authority issues a decision granting permission to use the building or facility (pozwolenie na użytkowanie). The owner may then legally occupy or put the facility into operation. If deficiencies are found, the decision may be postponed until corrections are made or, in some cases, a rejection may be issued with instructions for remedy.

Kolaudacja applies to new buildings and to substantial alterations or extensions that require a building permit. Smaller works or those that do not affect safety may be exempt or subject to simplified procedures depending on the law in force at the time.

The term is widely used in Polish construction practice and is a key step in the post-construction phase, linking design and construction with legal occupancy and use.
