kilometreye

Kilometreye is the Turkish dative form of the noun kilometre. It is not a separate unit of measurement. In Turkish, nouns can take case endings to indicate grammatical role; the dative suffix -e (with vowel harmony) marks direction toward or destination. As a result, kilometreye means “to the kilometre” and occurs in sentences where a reference to a kilometre functions as a target or point of reference. It can appear in phrases such as kilometreye göre, meaning “according to the kilometre,” or kilometreye ulaşmak, meaning “to reach the kilometre.”
