järjestelmälevyt
Järjestelmälevyt refer to bootable storage devices containing the necessary operating system and essential system files required to start a computer. These disks are crucial for a computer's initial power-on sequence, enabling it to load and run software. Typically, a järjestelmälevy is a hard disk drive (HDD) or a solid-state drive (SSD) that has been partitioned and formatted to support the booting process of a particular operating system, such as Windows, macOS, or Linux. The system BIOS or UEFI firmware on the motherboard reads specific boot sector information from the järjestelmälevy to initiate the loading of the operating system kernel and other vital components. Without a properly configured järjestelmälevy, a computer cannot start up and function. In some cases, a järjestelmälevy might also refer to removable media like USB drives or optical discs used for installing or repairing an operating system.
