jaetaankseen

Jaetaankseen is a Finnish verbal form described in a small number of grammars as a rare passive infinitive with a purposive meaning. It is said to be built from the verb jaeta, meaning “to be distributed” or “to be shared,” combined with the suffix -kseen, which in some linguistic analyses marks a purposive or end-result infinitive in certain historical or dialectal variants. The overall sense of jaetaankseen is roughly “in order to be distributed” or “to be distributed for the purpose of X.” It is not part of standard contemporary Finnish and is seldom used outside of theoretical discussions, historical texts, or specialized legal-linguistic writing.

Historically, jaetaankseen appears in sparse grammars from the late 19th and early 20th centuries and has since seen limited attestation. Some modern descriptions treat it as an archaism or an example of how Finnish inflectional possibilities were once extended in literary or bureaucratic style. In everyday Finnish, speakers would typically render the idea with jaataan or jaettavaksi, or with a tertiary construction such as “jakamisen tarkoitukseksi” to express purpose.
