interklavikulärt

Interklavikulärt is a Swedish anatomical term meaning "between the clavicles." In English-language anatomy, the equivalent term is interclavicular, used to describe structures or regions located between the two clavicles (collarbones). The term is commonly applied to the interclavicular region at the superior thorax and to the ligament that spans between the clavicles.

The interclavicular region lies at the top of the thorax, bounded laterally by the medial ends of the clavicles, and medially by the manubrium of the sternum and the jugular notch. It is continuous with the superior thoracic aperture and is in proximity to several anatomical structures including the sternoclavicular joints, the subclavian vessels, and the apex of the lung.

The lig. interclaviculare (interclavicular ligament) is a strong band that joins the superior surfaces of the two clavicles, typically passing just above the jugular notch. It reinforces the sternoclavicular joints and helps limit separation of the clavicles during shoulder movements.

Clinically, injuries to the shoulder girdle may involve this region, such as sternoclavicular joint injuries or clavicular fractures where the interclavicular area is affected. Diagnostic imaging, such as radiographs or CT, evaluates the integrity of the clavicles and the interclavicular region.
