Hullámhosszint, often translated as wavelength, is a fundamental property of waves that describes the spatial period of the wave, or the distance over which the wave's shape repeats. For a longitudinal wave, such as sound waves, it is the distance between two consecutive compressions or rarefactions.

Wavelength is inversely proportional to frequency (f), which is the number of wave cycles that pass a given point per unit of time. This relationship is expressed by the formula λ = v/f, where v is the wave's speed. This means that waves with higher frequencies have shorter wavelengths, and waves with lower frequencies have longer wavelengths, assuming their speed remains constant. The speed of a wave is dependent on the medium through which it is traveling.
