Hullámhosszint is a Hungarian term that translates to "wavelength" in English. It is a fundamental property of waves and describes the spatial period of a periodic wave. In simpler terms, it is the distance over which the wave's shape repeats. This is the distance between two consecutive corresponding points of the same phase, such as two adjacent crests or troughs.

The wavelength is typically denoted by the Greek letter lambda (λ). It is inversely proportional to the frequency of the wave, meaning that waves with higher frequencies have shorter wavelengths, and waves with lower frequencies have longer wavelengths. This relationship is expressed by the equation v = fλ, where v is the wave speed, f is the frequency, and λ is the wavelength. This equation holds true for all types of waves, including electromagnetic waves like light and radio waves, as well as mechanical waves like sound waves and water waves.

The unit of wavelength is a unit of length, such as meters (m), centimeters (cm), or nanometers (nm), depending on the scale of the wave. Radio waves can have wavelengths ranging from millimeters to kilometers.
