Treatment of hypovolemia depends on the underlying cause and the severity of the condition. In cases of severe blood loss, fluid replacement therapy may be necessary to restore blood volume and maintain organ perfusion. In cases of dehydration, oral or intravenous fluid replacement may be recommended. In some cases, medications may be used to treat the underlying cause of hypovolemia, such as diuretics to manage fluid retention.

Prevention of hypovolemia involves maintaining adequate hydration, monitoring blood volume in patients at risk of blood loss, and addressing any underlying conditions that may contribute to fluid loss. Early recognition and treatment of hypovolemia can help prevent the progression of the condition to hypovolemic shock and improve patient outcomes.
