Hintaesitykset refers to a practice in Finnish consumer law that mandates how prices must be displayed to consumers. It is primarily governed by the Consumer Protection Act. The core principle of hintaesitykset is price transparency, ensuring that consumers can easily understand the total cost of a product or service before making a purchase.

This includes displaying the final price that the consumer will actually pay, including all taxes and any other mandatory charges. If a price is advertised or quoted, it must be clear and unambiguous. For services, the estimated total price or the basis for calculating the price, such as an hourly rate, must be provided. Special attention is paid to pricing in advertising, where misleading price information is prohibited.

When discounts or special offers are advertised, the original price must also be clearly indicated to allow consumers to assess the actual savings. If a price is advertised per unit, such as per kilogram or per liter, this unit price must also be displayed alongside the total price. These regulations aim to prevent deceptive pricing practices and empower consumers to make informed purchasing decisions.
