Hydroponics offers several benefits. It can be more water-efficient than traditional agriculture, as water is recirculated. It also allows for cultivation in areas with poor soil quality or limited space, such as urban environments. Furthermore, the absence of soil can reduce the incidence of soil-borne diseases and pests, potentially decreasing the need for pesticides. However, hydroponic systems require a consistent supply of electricity for pumps and lighting, and there is a greater initial investment in equipment compared to traditional farming. Maintaining the correct nutrient balance and pH levels is crucial for success.
