Hexacyanide refers to compounds containing the hexacyano ligand, [Fe(CN)6]. The most common and stable form is the hexacyanoferrate(III) ion, [Fe(CN)6]3-, also known as ferricyanide. This ion has an iron atom in the +3 oxidation state coordinated to six cyanide ligands.
