Herobase is a fictional character concept that emerged from the online sandbox game Minecraft. While not an official part of the game's lore or development, Herobrine became a persistent legend among the player base. The story typically depicts Herobrine as a ghost or entity resembling the default player character, Steve, but with blank white eyes.

The legend originated on online forums and image boards, where players shared purported sightings and screenshots of Herobrine. These accounts often described encountering inexplicable structures, such as perfectly formed pyramids or tunnels, or witnessing strange in-game events attributed to him. The narrative also suggested Herobrine would stalk players, appearing at the edge of their vision or in fog.

The persistent nature of the Herobrine myth is largely attributed to the game's open-ended design, which allows for player-created stories and interpretations. Developers of Minecraft, particularly Notch (Markus Persson), have repeatedly stated that Herobrine does not exist in the game code and has never been an actual entity within Minecraft.
