Hematopoietilise is an Estonian adjective used in scientific writing to describe things related to hematopoiesis or the hematopoietic system. In English, the corresponding term is hematopoietic.

Hematopoiesis is the process by which all blood cells arise from hematopoietic stem cells. In adults, hematopoiesis primarily occurs in the bone marrow, whereas during development it takes place in the liver and spleen and earlier in the yolk sac. The hematopoietic stem cell population sustains blood formation by producing progenitor cells that differentiate into multiple lineages.

Hematopoietic differentiation is organized into two major lineages: the myeloid and the lymphoid. The myeloid lineage gives rise to red blood cells, platelets, granulocytes, and monocytes; the lymphoid lineage produces B cells, T cells, and natural killer cells. This process is tightly regulated by transcription factors and a network of cytokines and growth factors, such as erythropoietin for red cell production, thrombopoietin for platelets, granulocyte–colony stimulating factor and macrophage colony-stimulating factor for myeloid cells, and various interleukins that influence lineage decisions and maturation.

Clinical relevance centers on the proper functioning of hematopoiesis. Disruptions can cause anemia, leukopenia, or thrombocytopenia and may contribute to hematologic disorders such as myelodysplastic syndromes or leukemias. Therapeutic approaches include bone marrow or peripheral blood stem cell transplantation, growth-factor therapies, and treatments that target specific stages of hematopoietic differentiation. Understanding hematopoietic biology informs diagnosis, prognosis, and management of blood-related diseases.
