Hematopoietice is a term that appears in some sources as the Latinized or alternative adjective for hematopoietic, i.e., relating to hematopoiesis—the formation of blood cellular components. In standard English, the noun is hematopoiesis and the adjective hematopoietic.

Hematopoiesis occurs through a hierarchical system of stem and progenitor cells that give rise to all blood cell types. Hematopoietic stem cells reside primarily in the bone marrow of adults and generate erythroid, myeloid, and lymphoid lineages. The erythroid lineage produces red blood cells; the myeloid lineage gives rise to granulocytes, monocytes, and megakaryocytes (which form platelets); the lymphoid lineage produces B cells, T cells, and natural killer cells.

During fetal development, hematopoiesis begins in the yolk sac and later shifts to the fetal liver and spleen before enrolling mainly in the bone marrow after birth. In certain conditions, extramedullary hematopoiesis can occur in organs such as the liver or spleen.

Regulation of hematopoiesis involves cytokines and growth factors, including erythropoietin, thrombopoietin, granulocyte–colony stimulating factor, and various interleukins. Transcription factors such as GATA-1 and PU.1 coordinate lineage commitment and maturation, shaping the production and function of blood cells.

Clinical relevance includes a range of disorders of hematopoiesis, such as anemias, thrombocytopenias, leukemias, and myeloproliferative neoplasms. Therapeutic approaches often target hematopoietic pathways, including bone marrow or stem cell transplantation and cytokine-based therapies. The term hematopoietice is rarely used in current practice; hematopoietic remains the preferred form.
