havaittavilla
Havaittavilla is a Finnish word formed from the verb havaita ("to observe, to notice") and functions as a case form of the participle havaittava ("observable, able to be observed"). Morphologically, havaittavilla is the plural adessive form and is used to indicate location or possession in relation to plural entities described as observable. Literally it can be rendered as "on/at the observable ones" or more idiomatically as "observable" or "detectable" in contexts referring to multiple items.
The form appears in both everyday and specialist Finnish, notably in scientific, technical and evaluative language
- Virheet olivat havaittavilla heti. (The errors were observable immediately.)
- Havaittavilla olevat erot analysoitiin tarkemmin. (The observable differences were analyzed in more detail.)
Usage requires attention to case agreement and number in a sentence; as an adessive plural form it
