Haszonyítás is a Hungarian term that translates to "usufruct" in English, referring to a legal right granted to a person to use and enjoy the fruits of another person's property without owning it. This right is typically established by law or by contract. The usufructuary, or the person holding the right, can live in a property, cultivate land, or collect rent from a property, but they cannot alter the fundamental nature of the property or sell it.

The owner of the property, known as the naked owner, retains ownership but is restricted from interfering with the usufructuary's use and enjoyment. The right of usufruct can be granted for a specified period or for the lifetime of the usufructuary. Upon the termination of the usufruct, the property and its benefits return to the naked owner in its original condition, barring normal wear and tear.

This concept is often used in estate planning and family law, for example, when a surviving spouse is granted the right to live in the family home for their lifetime, while the children are the ultimate inheritors of the property. Haszonyítás aims to balance the rights of the user with the property rights of the owner, providing a framework for temporary use and benefit without transferring ownership.
