The resulting phrase means “its sound” or “its voice” and refers to the sound of something that is already identified in the discourse.

In use, hangját signals both possession and definiteness of the object. This makes it common in descriptive or narrative sentences where the speaker refers to a specific, recognizable sound. The form contrasts with hangja (without the definite -t) when the object is not treated as a definite entity.

Examples:

- A madár hangját hallottam a kertben. (I heard the bird’s sound in the garden.)

- A telefon hangját hallgatták, mire csörgött. (They listened to the phone’s sound/ringer when it rang.)

Limitations and notes:

- Hangját routinely appears with third-person possessors; other persons create corresponding forms (for example, hangod for “your sound,” followed by the definite suffix in appropriate contexts).
