Beyond these three familiar states, plasma is also considered a state of matter. Plasma is an ionized gas, meaning it contains a significant number of free electrons and ions. It is often found at very high temperatures, such as in stars, lightning, and fluorescent lights.

The transitions between these states, such as melting, freezing, evaporation, condensation, sublimation, and deposition, are driven by changes in temperature and pressure.
