Haaraketjuiset is a Finnish term referring to branched-chain amino acids, often abbreviated as BCAAs. These are a group of three essential amino acids: leucine, isoleucine, and valine. Essential amino acids cannot be synthesized by the human body and must be obtained through diet. BCAAs are unique in that they are metabolized directly in the muscles rather than in the liver, distinguishing them from other amino acids.
