Glowbearing is a term used to describe materials or products that bear luminescent properties, producing light either on demand or after exposure to energy. The term is used informally in design, manufacturing, and hobbyist contexts, and it is not widely standardized in technical dictionaries.

In practice, glowbearing can refer to photoluminescent pigments embedded in paints or plastics, chemiluminescent modules used in safety gear, or electroluminescent elements such as LEDs integrated into a surface. There are two broad categories: intrinsic luminescence, where the material itself emits light (for example phosphorescent or fluorescent pigments), and active illumination, where an external energy source drives light (such as LEDs or electroluminescent panels).

Common applications include safety signage, apparel and footwear with glow-in-the-dark features, outdoor equipment, stage props, and consumer electronics accessories.

Limitations include brightness levels, duration of afterglow, environmental durability, and safe handling of chemiluminescent components. Because glowbearing is not a standardized term, practitioners typically specify the light mechanism and performance metrics when describing a product.
