Fältvinklar, or field angles, are a concept primarily used in the field of optics and imaging, particularly in the context of lenses and cameras. They describe the angular extent of the scene that a lens can capture. Essentially, a fältvinkel quantifies how wide or narrow the field of view is.

There are typically three main fältvinklar considered: the horizontal, the vertical, and the diagonal fältvinkel. The horizontal fältvinkel is the angular extent of the scene visible from left to right. The vertical fältvinkel represents the angular extent visible from top to bottom. The diagonal fältvinkel is the angular extent across the corners of the image.

The fältvinkel is inversely related to the focal length of the lens. Lenses with shorter focal lengths have wider fältvinklar, capturing more of the scene, and are often referred to as wide-angle lenses. Conversely, lenses with longer focal lengths have narrower fältvinklar, magnifying distant objects and are known as telephoto lenses.
