Fullionisert is a term used in astrophysics and plasma physics to describe a state of matter where all atoms have been stripped of their electrons. In such a state, the matter consists purely of a plasma of free electrons and atomic nuclei. This is the most extreme form of ionization, going beyond partial ionization where only some electrons have been removed.

The conditions required for full ionization are typically extreme, involving very high temperatures and/or pressures. These conditions are found in the cores of stars, such as our Sun, where temperatures can reach millions of degrees Celsius. Supernova remnants and the interstellar medium in certain environments can also exhibit fully ionized plasma.

Understanding fully ionized plasma is crucial for comprehending stellar evolution, the behavior of magnetic fields in space (magnetohydrodynamics), and the processes occurring in fusion reactors. The properties of fully ionized plasma, such as its electrical conductivity and opacity, differ significantly from those of neutral or partially ionized gases. For instance, its high electrical conductivity allows it to efficiently conduct electric currents and interact strongly with magnetic fields, leading to phenomena like plasma confinement. The study of fully ionized plasma is a fundamental aspect of understanding the universe.
