flusssandablagerungen
Flusssandablagerungen, also known as alluvial deposits, are accumulations of sand and gravel transported and deposited by rivers. These deposits are a common feature of river systems and are formed through erosion, transportation, and deposition processes. As rivers flow, they pick up sediment from their banks and riverbeds. This sediment, ranging in size from fine silt to coarse gravel, is carried downstream. The speed of the river and the volume of water determine the size of sediment that can be transported. When the river's flow slows down, such as in wider sections of the river, on the inside bends of meanders, or when it enters a larger body of water, it loses the energy to carry the sediment. This causes the sediment to be deposited, forming flusssandablagerungen.
These deposits are often found in river valleys, floodplains, and deltas. They can vary greatly in thickness
