Fluorescein is a synthetic organic compound and a fluorescent dye. In medicine, a fluorescein test, also known as a fluorescein angiography, is a diagnostic imaging technique used to examine blood vessels in the retina and choroid of the eye. The procedure involves injecting a small amount of fluorescein dye into a vein in the arm. As the dye circulates through the bloodstream, it reaches the blood vessels of the eye.
