Faseforskjøvet is a Norwegian term used to describe a signal, waveform, or periodic phenomenon whose phase angle has been shifted relative to a reference. In practice, this means a change in the timing of the periodic cycle without altering its frequency or amplitude.

In electronics and signal processing, phase shifting is a common operation. A phase shifter alters the phase angle φ of a sinusoid x(t) = A sin(ωt + φ) while keeping A and ω constant. Techniques include RC networks, all-pass filters, and digital processing. A classic example is the RC phase shift network that produces a total 180-degree phase shift across several stages, used in RC phase shift oscillators.
