Therefore, falsificationists believe that the progress of science occurs through a process of conjecture and refutation. Scientists propose bold hypotheses and then rigorously attempt to falsify them. Theories that survive these attempts are considered corroborated, but never definitively proven true. Those that are falsified are discarded or modified. This iterative process, driven by the search for falsifying evidence, is seen as the engine of scientific advancement.
