The most common faasiaineet encountered in everyday life are solid, liquid, and gas. A solid has a definite shape and volume, meaning its particles are tightly packed and vibrate in fixed positions. A liquid has a definite volume but takes the shape of its container, as its particles are close but can move past each other. A gas has no definite shape or volume, expanding to fill its container because its particles are far apart and move randomly and rapidly.
