Félvezetőgyártás is the process of creating semiconductor devices, which are fundamental components in modern electronics. This complex and highly specialized industry involves a series of intricate steps performed in ultra-clean environments known as cleanrooms. The primary raw material used is silicon, a semiconductor element, which is first purified to an extremely high degree.

The manufacturing process typically begins with the creation of large, single-crystal silicon ingots. These ingots are then sliced into thin wafers. The next crucial stage involves photolithography, where intricate patterns are transferred onto the wafer surface using light and masks. This process defines the circuit designs. Following photolithography, various deposition, etching, and doping techniques are employed to build up layers of different materials and alter the electrical properties of specific regions on the wafer.

Ion implantation is a common doping method, where impurity atoms are embedded into the silicon lattice to create n-type and p-type semiconductor regions, essential for transistors and diodes. After numerous cycles of these steps, thousands of individual semiconductor chips, or dies, are formed on a single wafer. The wafer is then tested for defects.

Finally, the wafer is cut into individual dies, which are then packaged to protect them and provide electrical connections to the outside world. These packaged chips are the semiconductors that power everything from smartphones and computers to cars and medical equipment. The scale and precision required make semiconductor manufacturing one of the most technologically advanced and capital-intensive industries globally.
