Gypsum and anhydrite are key raw materials for the production of plaster, cement, and wallboard. Potash, derived from minerals like sylvite and carnallite, is crucial for fertilizer production. The study of ancient evaporites also provides valuable insights into past climatic conditions and the evolution of sedimentary basins.
